​A Cake Smash session is the ultimate way to celebrate your baby turning one!

These sessions are such a fun, and exciting experience not only for your baby but also for you too!

​There are a such a great way to show off that emerging little personality with lots of fun, giggles, and of course lots of mess!

Cake smash sessions are personalised to you. I work hard to make your session as unique and as special as your baby is. Before your session, we will plan the colours and theme to suit. I provide all the props and decorations as well as the professionally made cake.

Your Cake Smash session is a three-in-one session:​
1  -  We always start with some 'clean' images - these can be just your baby or family members can be included too.
2  -  The cake is then introduced and the mess begins!
3  -  After cake has been smashed, the sticky mess is cleaned off in a super fun splash session in the cute little claw foot bathtub or the rustic washbasin.

Cake Smash sessions are fun and never rushed, with only one scheduled per day so that your little one can take as much time as they need to relax and enjoy the session.  After all, you only have a first birthday once!

Frequently Asked Questions

Where are Cake Smash sessions held?

Cake Smash sessions take place in my professional studio at 27B Royal Arcade, Timaru on weekday mornings (Tuesday - Friday)

How long will the photoshoot take?

On average these sessions are around 1 hour but this will depend on the baby.  Some baby's have so much fun they don't want to stop, and others can get annoyed once they are getting a bit messy or sticky.
I always let the baby decide once he/she has had enough.

Do you include the cake and decorations?

Yes I do.  The cake is made to suit by a professional cake maker.  I will provide the props and decorations.  You are very welcome to provide some of your own decorations or props if you have something special that you want to be included.  ​Before your session we will discuss the theme and colours and work together to create and amazing session.

What if my baby doesn't like the cake?

The majority of babies don't actually eat the cake, some will love getting their hands into it and getting a bit messy and others will just poke around it very carefully. No matter what your baby does with the cake, we will always get amazing images to capture this very special milestone.  And if your baby doesn't eat the cake, you can take it home for yourself!

What if my baby has allergies?

If your baby has allergies we can discuss this before your session and ensure your cake is allergen free. Or if you prefer we can look at alternative options.

Can we get family photos too?  And can my other children be included?

Yes we can absolutely include a small number of family images before the cake smashing begins. Siblings are most welcome to attend but remember this is a special time for the baby and older siblings will often distract and stop them from exploring and having a play.

Do you offer a bath session as well?

Yes!  I have a gorgeous white claw bath tub or an old wash basin to capture some bath time fun after the cake smash mess has been made.  This is a great opportunity to get some cute and playful images with lots of splashing, bubbles and fun!

When do we receive the images?

Your images will be ready to view within 1-2 weeks of your session. I like to help you through the selection process of your images and this is best done in person at the studio. However If circumstances mean returning to the studio is too hard to schedule, or you are out of town, we can also do this online.  
Once you have chosen your images, they will be fully retouched and your digital images sent to you within 2-3 weeks. Printed products can take up to 4-8 weeks to arrive depending on the product.

Are you fully vaccinated?

Yes. I am current in all recommended vaccinations including Whooping Cough and MMR.
