​A Cake Smash session is the ultimate way to celebrate your baby turning one!

These sessions are such a fun, and exciting experience not only for your baby but for you too!

​These are a such a great way to show off that emerging little personality, complete with lots of giggles, and of course a bit of mess!

Every cake smash session is personalised to you.  Before your session, we will plan the colours and theme to suit your baby and your style.  I provide all props, decorations and a professionally made cake.

A Cake Smash session is a three-in-one session:​
​
1.  We always start with some 'clean' images - these can be just your baby or family members can be included too.
2.  The cake is then introduced and the fun (and mess) begins!
3.  After cake has been smashed, your little one is cleaned off in a fun splash session in the claw foot bathtub or rustic washbasin.

Cake Smash sessions are relaxed and never rushed, giving your little one plenty of time to enjoy the experience.  After all, you only have a first birthday once!

​​​​If a Cake Smash session is not for you or your baby has allergies, other options are available, including fruit or a realistic fake cake. ​​

Frequently Asked Questions

Where are Cake Smash sessions held?

Cake Smash sessions take place in my professional studio at 27B Royal Arcade, Timaru.

How long will the photoshoot take?

On average these sessions are around 1 hour but this will depend on the baby.  Some baby's have so much fun they don't want to stop, and others can get annoyed once they are getting a bit messy or sticky.
I always let the baby decide once he/she has had enough.

Are the decorations and the cake all included?

Yes absolutely!  All the work is done for you!  All you have to do is make the decisions and I am there the whole way to help you through the decision process.

What if my baby doesn't like the cake?

The majority of babies don't actually eat the cake, some will love getting their hands into it and getting a bit messy and others will just poke around it very carefully. No matter what your baby does with the cake, we will always get amazing images to capture this very special milestone.  And if your baby doesn't eat the cake, you can take it home for yourself!

What if my baby has allergies?

If your baby has allergies we can discuss this before your session and ensure your cake is allergen free. Or if you prefer we can look at alternative options.

Can we get family photos too?  And can my other children be included?

Yes, depending on the package that you choose, we can absolutely include a small number of family images before the cake smashing begins. Siblings are most welcome to attend but remember this is a special time for the baby and older siblings will often distract and stop them from exploring and having a play.

Do you offer a bath session as well?

Yes!  I have a gorgeous white claw bath tub or an old style wash basin to capture some bath time fun after the cake smash mess has been made.  This is a great opportunity to get some cute and playful images with lots of splashing, bubbles and fun!

When do we receive the images?

Your private online gallery will be ready to view within 7 days of your session.  This is where you will get to view and select your favourite images.  From here it is an easy add-on for any printed items you may also like.
Once you have chosen your images, they will be fully retouched and your digital images sent to you within 2 weeks. Printed products can take up to 4-8 weeks to arrive.

Are you fully vaccinated?

Yes. I am current in all recommended vaccinations including Whooping Cough and MMR.
