​Welcoming your new baby into the world is one of the most emotional and incredible times in your life.
It’s a time that deserves to be captured forever so you never forget what it felt like when your baby was so tiny and new.​

​The best time for a newborn session is within the first few weeks of your baby's arrival. This is when they are at their most restful, comfortable and content during a session.

To ensure availability for your session so soon after your baby's arrival, and to avoid disappointment, it is best to book your newborn session while you are pregnant.

Your due date is used to reserve a space in my calendar, and once your baby arrives, we'll confirm the exact date for your session.
All newborn sessions take place in my Timaru studio.

During your session your baby is photographed in a range of both natural and posed setups.  I have a selection of beautiful high quality wraps, outfits and accessories, along with a small collection of carefully chosen props to create simple, timeless images.

Newborn sessions are relaxed and guided by your baby, allowing time to create a beautiful range of natural and styled images.

Your baby's comfort and safety is always my highest priority.  The studio is kept warm and sessions move at a pace that works for your baby.  There is always time for feeding, settling and cuddles, so you can relax and simply enjoy the experience.

A beautiful, simple session focused on your brand new baby and the beginning of your story together.

​This experience includes up to one hour in the studio, with both baby and parents, capturing those precious newborn details and the way they fit so perfectly in your arms.

You'll receive 10 professionally edited digital images of your choice.

​Signature Newborn session - $850
A session focused on your brand new baby and the love that surrounds them.

This experience allows additional time in the studio and welcomes siblings (and even pets), capturing those tiny details along with the connections and love that surround your newest addition.

Frequently Asked Questions

When should I book my newborn session?

To avoid disappointment it is best to book your newborn session while you are still pregnant - soon after your 20-week scan is ideal.  I only take a small number of newborn sessions, so it's best to book early.
Your due date is used to reserve a space on my calendar and once your baby arrives, we can confirm the exact date for your session.

What age do you photograph newborns?

Newborn sessions are best held within the first few weeks after your baby is born, while they are still very sleepy and tiny.  This is when babies tend to be most comfortable and settled, allowing us to capture those beautiful newborn details.
However, every baby is different, so if your little one is slightly older, please feel free to get in touch.

Where are newborn sessions held?

All newborn sessions take place in my studio at 27B Royal Arcade, Timaru, a beautiful space designed especially for photographing babies and families.

How long will the photoshoot take?

The length of your session will depend on the newborn experience you choose.  The Petite session allows up to one hour in the studio, while the Signature session allows additional time for a wider range of images and family combinations.

Are parents and siblings included?

Parents are included in both newborn session options, and I always encourage you to be part of the photographs.  These early days with your baby pass by so quickly, and the images of you together often become the ones you treasure most.
Siblings are welcome to join the Signature newborn session, which allows extra time for family photographs.  Family pets are also welcome to be included in this session if you would like them to be part of the experience.

What should we wear to our newborn session?

Soft, neutral earthy tones tend to photograph beautifully in the studio.  Try to avoid bright colours, large logos, bold stripes or busy patterns.
If your bringing toddlers or young children, it's always a good idea to pack a spare outfit just in case of little accidents.

Do we need to bring anything for the baby?

Everything needed for your newborn session is provided in the studio, including wraps, blankets, outfits and a selection of simple props.  However you are very welcome to bring a special or sentimental item if there is something meaningful you would like to include in your images.

Do you have payment options?

A $200 deposit is required to secure your newborn session, with the remaining balance due prior to your session.
Many families book during pregnancy, which allows plenty of time to spread payments leading up to your session if you wish.  Zip is also available.

When do we receive the images?

Your private online gallery will be ready within 7 days of your session.  Once you have selected your favourite images, they will be professionally retouched and delievered within 2 weeks. Printed products typically arrive within 4-8 weeks.

Are you fully vaccinated?

Yes. I am current in all recommended vaccinations including whooping cough and MMR.  Hygiene and safety are always taken seriously in the studio to ensure a safe environment of your baby.
